WATER PEOPLE THEATER

STUDIO

About STUDIO

WPT STUDIO is our bilingual theatrical training program which is targeted toward both children and adults. This program was designed with a strong commitment to the ideals of inclusion, justice, and peace.

Our foundational values are cultural inclusivity and the utmost respect for racial, cultural, and socioeconomic differences.

At WPT STUDIO, we have designed a series of workshops and creative labs that are targeted at developing a person’s talents, skills, and sense of social responsibility. Our main objectives are to stimulate our participants’ desire to be better human beings and more qualified professionals.  Also, we want to create a sense of community and justice within the audience that inspires them to take action and make the world a better place.

The training for children within WPT STUDIO has been designed to stimulate human, social, and environmental values. The workshops aimed at youth and adults are created as a space to develop tools and techniques that enhance their talent, creativity, and theatrical skills with a commitment to human and social values.

WPT Studio aims to strengthen the participants’ sense of ethical responsibility as well as their duties to their communities. With our training, the aim is to activate a firm commitment to creating theater committed to Human Rights in future professionals.

One of our main objectives for 2024 has been to start the Studio’s in-person activities. However, it has been increasingly difficult due to the low income of the organization in addition to price increases in services, rents, materials, and equipment. Another significant element to take into account is that we don’t have our own space. This has put up a barrier to our return to in-person theater both in terms of productions as well as starting Studio activities.

WPT Is making every effort to begin in-person Studio activities. We recognize the support from Paul Angell Family Foundation for this project. However, due to the impact of the pandemic, we would like to request the renewal of the grant for two more years in order to continue growing and strengthening the bases of WPT Studio as well as expanding the teaching and administrative staff.

Our mission and projects align completely with the mission and objectives of the Paul Angell Family Foundation and we are sure that with your support, we can continue to develop actions for social change in the most fragile and diverse communities in Chicago.
