“Mujeres Creando,” a series of Theatrical Concerts
celebrating Human Rights. March 2025, Chicago.
Mujeres Creando | Women Creating is a vibrant space for connection, dialogue, and the celebration of theatrical works by women. Dedicated to amplifying their voices and perspectives, it highlights their deep commitment to human rights through the transformative and unifying power of theater.
Water People Theater is proud to announce the titles of the winning plays for the second edition of Mujeres Creando 2025, a series of Theatrical Concerts for Human Rights.

The international jury, made up of renowned professionals from the Hispanic theater world, including Rosalba Rolon, Rocio Carrillo, Carola Garcia-Lopez, Rocio Ferreira, Monica Pasqualotto, Karla E. Rivera, and Constanza Mendoza, selected the three winning plays “for the quality and innovation of their dramatic proposals related to human rights, amplifying female voices and highlighting the commitment to theater made by women.”

We deeply thank all the Spanish-speaking playwrights from different parts of the world who shared their voices and perspectives, reinforcing the importance and need to create spaces that address human rights and social issues through theater.
Mujeres Creando | Women Creating is a vibrant space for connection, dialogue, and the celebration of theatrical works by women. Dedicated to amplifying their voices and perspectives, it highlights their deep commitment to human rights through the transformative and unifying power of theater.
Water People Theater calls on Latin American and Spanish female writers to submit theatrical works exploring the theme of human rights. An international jury of accomplished professionals from theater, academia, poetry, and literature reviews the submissions, selecting three outstanding texts to honor and showcase.
The selected texts will be featured in the theatrical concert series for human rights, Mujeres Creando | Women Creating, held in Chicago during March to honor International Women’s Day and World Theater Day. Each author will be awarded a $300 USD prize in recognition of their work.

A panel of women committed to defending human rights, with a deep and critical perspective on the submitted works. Thanks to them, Mujeres Creando continues to be a space where writing becomes a tool for change.

International Day of Action Against Harmful Practices Targeting Women and Girls.
We welcome submissions of plays by Latin American and/or Spanish female playwrights.
The three winning titles will be announced on social media and waterpeople.org on February 20, 2025 World Day of Social Justice
The “Women Creating” theatrical concert series will take place in March, in celebration of the International Women’s Day.
In addition to being featured in the theatrical concert series, each selected author will receive $300 USD.
